Spartan Regiment Update 7/1/2020

Hello Spartan Regiment Family,

UPDATE: Open Band Hall on July 7th and 14th have been cancelled due to the rise in COVID cases. We are continuing to monitor the situation and are tentatively planning on opening the band hall on Monday, July 20th for Guard, Percussion Camps, and Leadership workdays. Leadership camp on Thursday, July 16th will be in person or online via google meeting.

Make sure you continue to practice your instrument, marching fundamentals, and keep physically active this summer. Don't veg out playing video games the whole summer! We are tentatively planning on opening the band hall on Monday, July 20th for guard/drumline sectionals, lessons, and optional wind sectionals. Stay tuned for more information. Know that we will adhere to BISD/TEA/UIL guidelines. Students - Try to spend some time outside to get acclimated to the hotter weather so August camp won't be a shock to the system. Drink lots of water when outdoors.

WGI World Championship Refund UPDATE 7/1/20 & Indoor Winds Credits Transfer

Refund checks are IN THE MAIL! Everyone (Guard & Drumline) should have received an email from Mr. Klein with refund details. Please reply to the email to confirm in writing the option of check or credit. Please DO NOT create a new email. It makes it difficult to track confirmations.

If you requested credits to be transferred to future band fees, you should have received an email from Mr. Klein letting you know credits have been applied to 2020 Marching Band Fees in CutTime.

Band Fees (Everyone has the GREEN light to pay band fees ONLINE)

It's important to stay on track with the band fees. We purchase a lot of items for the students & pay for marching techs, colorguard techs, percussion techs, & masterclass teachers. Most of the money is spent in August. If you need a different financial arrangement than the $125 per month please email Mr. Klein. Please make your payments online in Cut Time with a debit/credit card.**You MUST create a username & password first**

How to Pay Your Band Fees with a Credit Card

Upcoming payments:
  • 1st $125 due Mon, June 1st
  • 2nd $125 due Wed, July 1st
  • 3rd $125 due Sat, August 1st
  • 4th $125 due Tues, Sept 1st ($500 due in FULL)

Sat, July 25th - 20-21 CHS Band Registration 9am-4pm 

ANY OUTSTANDING FEES MUST BE PAID AT THIS TIME. Please check your CutTime account.

Please try to attend during your time slot, however if you have an unavoidable conflict you may come at an earlier time.
  • 9am - Seniors
  • 10am - Juniors
  • 11am - Sophomores A-M
  • Noon - LUNCH BREAK no registrations
  • 1pm - Sophomores N-Z
  • 2pm - Freshman A-M
  • 3pm - Freshman N-Z
1st & 2nd Band Fee payments due $250 total (Online Payments Please!)

School Instrument Checkout/Percussion Instrument Usage Fee- $75 to CHS Band Boosters - separate check from Band Fees; You can request online payments with debit/credit card. Send Mr. Klein an email BEFORE registration.

August Camp!

July 27-July 31, Aug 3-7, Aug 10-14, Aug 17-18 8am-5pm (Lunch 11:30am-1pm)

This is where we will be deciding our primary marching spots & begin learning the drill for the show as well as the rest of the show music, stand tunes, & drill team tunes. Any absences need to be communicated in writing to Mr. Klein prior to the absence -; Work or not having a ride is not excused.

The 2019-2020 ACT & SAT dates have been released. Please check our calendar before signing up for tests. There are MANY opportunities that do not conflict with Band/Drumline/Winds/Colorguard contests where we need 100% of our members. We have added all these good dates to our Google Calendar so you can see how they line up.

  • Sept 12, June 12, 2021, July 17, 2021
Conflicting SAT Dates (Do not sign-up for these):
  • Sept 26 Mansfield Contest ALL DAY INCLUDING MORNING
  • Oct 3 Birdville Contest ALL DAY INCLUDING MORNING
  • March 13 - Possible Guard Contest or Drumline/Winds Camp (don't sign up if you are in one of these groups)
Conflicting ACT Dates (Do not sign-up for these):
  • Oct 24 - UIL AREA contest
  • Dec 12 - Phase 2 & 9th Auditions (don't sign up if you are in one of these groups)
  • Feb 6 - Possible Drumline/Winds/Guard Contest Date (don't sign up if you are in one of these groups)
  • April 17 - WGI World Perc/Winds Championships - Drumline/Winds (don't sign up if you are in one of these groups)

Marching Contest & Performance Dates:

These dates are required for ALL Spartan Regiment Marching Band members regardless of role/position. Please clear the whole day and do NOT sign up for the ACT or SAT or go on vacation on these dates. We need 100% of our team to be successful. It is a Test Grade; unexcused absence is a 0.
  • Sat, Sept 26 - Preview of Champions Marching Contest (All Day @ Mansfield ISD Stadium)
  • Sat, Oct 3 - Birdville Contest (All Day @ Birdville ISD Stadium)
  • Sat, Oct 10 - BOA Dallas Regional (All Day @ Pennington Stadium)
  • Sat, Oct 17 - BOA Waco Regional (All Day @ Baylor McLane Stadium)
  • Tues, Oct 13 - UIL Region 30 Marching Contest (Time TBA @ TBA)
  • Sat, Oct 24 - UIL Area Marching Contest (All Day; Location TBA)

20-21 LEADERSHIP Band Outreach Project

Leaders are on the mission to make sure our band is growing. They are currently reaching out to their sections to compile names and numbers so they can communicate Google Hangouts or any updated summer information. They are also reaching out to incoming Freshmen to introduce themselves, answer any questions they may have, and making sure they are registered for band. Leadership Band Outreach Project is being headed up by Mr. Murphy, so leaders should reach out to him with updates and questions.

20-21 Private Lessons

We wanted to send you an important update about private lessons. Our private lesson staff will continue to teach via skype, facetime, or online lessons. These lessons will need to be set up directly with the private teacher.

Please understand that lessons are the sole source of income for many of our teachers. We know these are difficult times, but if you can continue your lessons it would greatly help our extended regiment family.

If you are NOT in lessons and would like to be, it’s not too late to join! This would be a GREAT way to keep your student continually learning and having fun while school is out. Please complete the attached google form to sign up and we will put you in contact with one of our private lessons teachers.
