Spartan Regiment Update 8/17/20

 Hello Spartan Regiment Family,

Thank you BOOSTERS for a wonderful Spartan Regiment Appreciation Night last Monday! The goody bags and fancy popsicles were much appreciated on a hot summer day. The first week of virtual band camp was a success. Thank you everyone for your patience with all the technology struggles. Students please read the announcement below about virtual band camp. Let's have a great week!

Refund Check Procedure #5 - CHECKS in the mail

Parents: Email process is complete. Mr. Klein sent you an email if you have a credit balance. Please REPLY to the email to confirm the amount deposited, refund amount, and contact information (shipping address and payee). The goal is to complete the refund check process by August 31st if not earlier.

Since we are lowering the fall marching band fee to $200, it is time to do another round of refund checks to those who have paid more than $200 or to those who have credits from indoor winds, winter guard, and indoor drumline. All credit balances will first be applied to any balance due for band fees (this includes instrument usage fees). Any remaining credits will be refunded with a check (no future credit options at this time). Fundraisers and scholarship credits are non-refundable.

*Please check the lesson plan to make sure you have the music ready*

MAKE SURE you are practicing daily the material we are covering in camp. The time in camp is not nearly enough time to learn material. Our motto is being prepared for rehearsals. Rehearsals are not for learning material, but a time to put the music together as a group.

Cleaning Supplies Donation Drop Off - Thurs, Aug 20th 6-7 pm

In preparation for the Summer and Fall 2020 Band Season, the Band Leadership and Boosters are aware that this program will require a significant amount of hand sanitizer, sanitation wipes and sprays (Purell, Lysol, Clorox wipes, etc.). We are well aware during this season that it is difficult to purchase these in-demand products, some stores having restrictions limiting purchase quantities.

If you are out and about and spot any of these products (no matter the size), please purchase one and hang onto it until we can arrange a donation collection when this year's Band Program formally starts back up.

If anyone has any contacts or connections that would enable the Band to purchase these items in bulk, please contact Randy Denby, 817-219-4468.

Thank you for helping keep our kids healthy!  ~Band Boosters

Most of the money is spent in August. If you need a different financial arrangement than the $100 per month please email Mr. Klein. All State Music

TMEA released the 2020-2021 All-State music last week. Auditions (Region and Area) will be conducted via video submission upload. More details to come as TMEA finalizes the process. TMEA also announced the new All-State Percussion Ensemble for the 2021 TMEA convention. This means they will take more percussionists from Area auditions to fill the All-State Bands, Orchestras, and the new Percussion Ensemble. Obtaining a spot in the Texas All-State Ensembles can lead to scholarship money regardless of college major.

CHS Band has traditionally used this music as a big part of our fall curriculum with weekly testing. Test scores were then averaged to determine concert band placements. At this time, the director team has decided to make this music optional enrichment for the fall semester. For more information about the All-State process, click on the YouTube link below and skip to 23:42.

20-21 Private Lessons

Our private lesson staff continue to teach via skype, facetime, or online lessons. These lessons will need to be set up directly with the private teacher.

Please understand that lessons are the sole source of income for many of our teachers. We know these are difficult times, but if you can continue your lessons it would greatly help our extended regiment family.

If you are NOT in lessons and would like to be, it’s not too late to join! This would be a GREAT way to keep your student continually learning and having fun while school is out. Please complete the attached google form to sign up and we will put you in contact with one of our private lessons teachers.
