Spartan Regiment Update 8/24/20

Hello Spartan Regiment Family,

This is the last week of band virtual band camp. Make sure to thank our staff for making the virtual camp a reality. We look forward to IN-PERSON learning to start next Monday. We.....CAN'T....wait....to see you all and start making music again.

VIRTUAL BLITZ Fundraiser - THIS Wednesday, August 26 at 5pm

The Blitz Fundraiser is what makes up the difference between our band fees and what the other groups charge, so it is important we keep doing well at the Blitz Fundraiser so we can keep our fees lower. While we have a slightly different year, it is important to continue our momentum and continue to offer our students services that are not covered by our band fees this year. The Blitz Fundraiser will be held VIRTUALLY so start making your list of Friends & Family members to call (AT LEAST 15 contacts)! Our goal is $25,000. More money means more money for Marching Band Costumes, Props, Consultants/Techs, and travel costs! So let's earn as much as we can to help our program be successful this year and next year.

Vets - Old logins do not work, BUT your contacts have been saved from previous Blitz fundraisers.

Band Registration Electronic Forms - REQUIRED

Forms have been sent via email on 8/24.  Please write to Mr. Klein (aklein@bisdmail.net) for support.

Rehearsals/Performances (Starting the 2nd Week of School):

  • Tuesday-Friday 7:15 am-8:15 am (this may change if needed)
  • Attendance is taken right at 7:15am - arrive 15 early to get to field/get instrument
  • 20 points off weekly grade for tardies (tardy 5 days a week = 0 for weekly grade)
  • All performances are test grades (20 points off for tardies or missing required items)

Refund Check Procedure #5 - CHECKS in the mail

Parents: Email process is complete. Mr. Klein sent you an email if you have a credit balance. Please REPLY to the email to confirm the amount deposited, refund amount, and contact information (shipping address and payee). The goal is to complete the refund check process by August 31st if not earlier.

Since we are lowering the fall marching band fee to $200, it is time to do another round of refund checks to those who have paid more than $200 or to those who have credits from indoor winds, winter guard, and indoor drumline. All credit balances will first be applied to any balance due for band fees (this includes instrument usage fees). Any remaining credits will be refunded with a check (no future credit options at this time). Fundraisers and scholarship credits are non-refundable.

Week 3: August Virtual Band Camp - August 10th - 28th

Please check the lesson plan to make sure you have the music ready!

MAKE SURE you are practicing daily the material we are covering in camp. The time in camp is not nearly enough time to learn material. Our motto is being prepared for rehearsals. Rehearsals are not for learning material, but a time to put the music together as a group.
  • Woodwinds & Brass - Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, & Fri (4pm to 5:30pm)
  • Guard - Tues & Thurs (4pm to 5:30pm)
  • Percussion Tues & Thurs (4pm to 5:30pm)
Links will be sent in google classroom for percussion.

2020 - 2021 CHS Band Daily Class Schedule

Most of the money is spent in August. If you need a different financial arrangement than the $100 per month please email Mr. Klein. All State Music & NEW Tutorial VIDEOS

TMEA released the 2020-2021 All-State music last week. Auditions (Region and Area) will be conducted via video submission upload. More details to come as TMEA finalizes the process. TMEA also announced the new All-State Percussion Ensemble for the 2021 TMEA convention. This means they will take more percussionists from Area auditions to fill the All-State Bands, Orchestras, and the new Percussion Ensemble. Obtaining a spot in the Texas All-State Ensembles can lead to scholarship money regardless of college major.

CHS Band has traditionally used this music as a big part of our fall curriculum with weekly testing. Test scores were then averaged to determine concert band placements. At this time, the director team has decided to make this music optional enrichment for the fall semester. For more information about the All-State process, click on the YouTube link below and skip to 23:42.

20-21 Private Lessons

Our private lesson staff continue to teach via skype, facetime, or online lessons. These lessons will need to be set up directly with the private teacher.

Please understand that lessons are the sole source of income for many of our teachers. We know these are difficult times, but if you can continue your lessons it would greatly help our extended regiment family.

If you are NOT in lessons and would like to be, it’s not too late to join! This would be a GREAT way to keep your student continually learning and having fun while school is out. Please complete the attached google form to sign up and we will put you in contact with one of our private lessons teachers.
